I have an issue with cardboard!

Being a puppy mill dog, I really don't play very much.
I do have an issue with cardboard though.

It is very important for the cardboard
to understand who is in charge....

Sometimes you even have to stand on the
dreaded cardboard to make it understand....

Tearing cardboard is A LOT of fun!

And, it is great if you can get away with
doing it and not getting in trouble!

Note from Mom:
We've been trying to show Taffy how to play for a long time now.  She occasionally will find something like a cardboard envelope and have some fun with it.  Sometimes she will nibble on your hand for a few seconds and then she just stops and can't be enticed into "playing" any more.  She doesn't have much interest in toys.   I know she is happy but it would be great for her to enjoy playing too.
Thoughts, ideas, or suggestions greatly appreciated!

We scotties don't play much either. We will play tug o war, but mostly we like to bark at live things. As puppies, we loved ripping up cardboard and paper, though.

How about a little dab of peanut butter on a toy... and then playing keep away fur a second or two.. then trying the same thingy with throwing a toy that has peanut butter Flavor..

Hide and Seek is fun... esp. if you put somethingy FUN... Inside a light cardboard box.. for her to "OPEN" and discover.

Another FUN game is to put Kibble or Snacks in a Box or bag.. or tie to a toy...

Hey Taffy!
Wow, great job with that cardboard! Someone has to show it who's boss. BOL BTW: Your collar is beautiful. I like those toys with foodables in them. You get to play with them and end up with a yummer too.

Does she like to chase things? You could get a flirt pole if she is.

Funny, all my dogs like cardboard even the two who don't know how to play like the others. They love to leave wet gooey cardboard pieces around for me to pick up

We're glad you get to have some fun with the cardboard even if it does make a mess.

Obviously, we like to play a lot, but some of the fun games our dog trainer has done with all her dogs is 'hide and seek' - where our Mom will hide some place in the house (she started off easy - like crouching behind something in the living room) while Dad holds us and then when Mom starts calling for us we go looking for her - which is great because she always has treats for us. Over time she has gotten more and more sneaky (hiding in the shower, lying in the tub below eye-level, etc). It's great fun. But then, that cardboard looks pretty fun, too!

We learned hide and seek in just like Miss Fiona. Bilbo doesn't play much either, but he still likes to "find Daddy"!

I don't know about this! I told Stanley and he laughed and said he and Taffy play together just fine! What does this mean??

Your Pal,

Pee Ess - Mom said they used to have a cocker who did not play and didn't want anyone else to play either! Can Taffy play catch with popcorn?

I have lots of toys, but cardboard is still my favorite. Nothing beats making confetti out of boxes! My peep has had dogs that were perfectly happy and didn't like to play. Let us know how the treats in the box go! Did you see the Cowspotdog's laser game? I still think you are doing great, Taffy!!!!

Taffy - cardboard is a fabby toy, Jade used to love it too. Then she would do the same with sticks...have you tried that?

Mom - FF&Ernie may be onto something. Most puppies LOVE p'nut butter. The other thing I used to do when I realised how much Jade loved cardboard, was twist it into "sticks" shapes or, if it was the packing box corrugated type, make it into strips about 6 inches then sandwich 4 or 5 of them together with a 'glue' of milk and flour paste. This is recycling at it's best!! It is not a worry if any gets ingested because the cellulose is okay for dogs.

That said, one of Jade's long-term and best loved toys was a squeaky 'bat' thing. Like kids, there is no accounting for what appeals!!

We like ripping up cardboard boxes when we get the chance too, Taffy. Maybe you would find an interactive toy fun. Grab 3 plastic cups and hide treats underneath and see if you can discover which one has the treats. We love any toy that's food oriented!

Love ya lots♥

I'm glad that you like to play with cardboard, Taffy! What fun!

Have you tried toys with treats inside them? I'm guessing that you have tried that... but if you haven't, a toy like that might entice you to play.

I know you're super happy. Your family loves you so much.
