So Many Things To Tell You

Man, things have been crazy around here for several days. First of all, I got a package from one of my bestest friends, Lorenza, last week. A couple weeks ago, I emailed her and asked if she could tell me where she got the pattern for her dresses. My grandma saw them and said she wanted to make some for me and made me promise to ask. Lorenza said they don't have a pattern but if I sent my measurements she would ask her grandma to make a pattern for me. So, Mom measured me, I sent them off to Lorenza and my package came last week. To my surprise, not only did I have a pattern in the package but Lorenza and her grandma made a dress for me as a birthday present. Wasn't that nice? It fits perfectly and I absolutely love it! I never knew I looked so good in yellow polka dots....Secondly, as I mentioned previously, Baxter came and stayed over the weekend. As you know, I am used to being the queen around here so I don't really like other dogs in my house. Since Baxter is our neighbor, I try to be nice and tolerate him. He was in trouble quite a bit while he was here...I found that to be funny! He bit Momma and made her bleed on Friday. I didn't find that to be funny. Mom told me that we still had to be nice to him even if we didn't like what he did. I was soooo glad to have my house back on Sunday afternoon. Baxter is cute but he doesn't have very good manners, he even tinkled on the floor. Mom and Dad said he has not been trained very well and that makes them sad. They think he could be a very good dog if someone took the time to teach him how to be good. I think his eye color is strange...I don't know if you can tell in the photos but one eye is blue, the other one is mostly brown but the top part is blue. Weird, huh?

Hey, what is he doin' sunnin' himself on MY blanket?
This is an exceptionally rare photo of Baxter and I together. Don't get used to it. I don't know if Mom and Dad will let him come and spend the night anymore....guess we will have to wait and see. I'm keepin' my paws crossed that they don't....shhhhh, don't tell!

So, I got the house to myself Sunday evening, Monday, and most of the day Tuesday. Tonight after Momma and Daddy got home from work, Uncle David and Aunt Shannon came over with another dog!!! What is going on? I don't understand....are they replacing me or going to get rid of me? Momma said we are going to be "foster parents" to this little guy. I don't care what we are...I don't like it!
I'm not sure how much of this I believe but this is how his story goes:
He was adopted out of my vet clinic about a year ago and was around 5 months old. Last week, the man who adopted him brought him back and said he was aggressive toward old people. I think that is crazy. Anyway, since Mom and Dad have experience with doxies and Aunt Shannon works at the vet, they asked us to foster him till next week. The vet wants us to let them know if he is adoptable and how he interacts with others. His name is Scooter and even I have to admit he is pretty cute. He looks like my brother, Max, that I never got to meet.

Here is a photo of me and Scooter together....just before I told him who was boss! He kept trying to get me to play with him.
Hey, Scooter! I don't want to play with you!

I'm a little worried that Scooter might come to live here forever. I don't know what to do about that....any ideas from you guys?

Whew! That was a long post. And to think, I was worried I was gonna run out of things to post about.

Contests Here, There, & Everywhere

Goodness! Everywhere I look there are contests going on and since I lost the last contest to my buddy, Checkers, I thought I would enter a few more.

I barely made it in before the deadline for Ike's First Annual Summer Photo Contest yesterday. Ike will be picking 5 finalists and then you guys get to vote for the winner. I'm hoping not to lose this time....hint, hint! I decided to enter a pic of me eating watermelon 'cause that is what epitomizes summer to me (and that is what the rules told us to look for).

Next, Rocky Creek Scotties are hosting a "Stick Out Your Tongue" contest to celebrate their 100th post. When that milestone post happens (soon) they will chose a winner randomly. I wanted to post a different picture than Mom did so we compromised and posted both. This is the one Mom likes...I think it is totally embarrassing! Why does she have to take pictures when my hair (ears) is a mess, I'm sound asleep, and have my tongue sticking out? She says it is cute, I say it is horrendous!

This is the picture I chose. We were at Grandma's house, I was sitting on Dad's lap and decided to kiss Grandma's hand. I think my tongue looks rather cute and this is a much more appropriate picture than the one above. Unfortunately, I can't type and Mom sometimes does what she wants....I think she is taking advantage of her superior abilities.

And, last but certainly not least, Sugar is hosting a "Sugar-Riffic Photo Contest" which is to include photos of us pups in compromising locations. Since I am such a "good girl" (tee hee) I don't have too many pics to pick from. The best I could come up with is this cell phone photo Mom took not too long ago. Not really a compromising location but an interesting one so I thought I would give it a try! FYI...this is a great napping position.
If you've got a contest going on let me know! I would love to enter and post about it!

Ummm...Flower Sunday?

Oops! With all the craziness this week, I forgot to have Mom post Flower Friday so we are doing Flower Sunday this weekend. To make up for it I decided to post a duo of the crocus we had this spring.
In other news, Baxter came to stay with us this weekend again. If you haven't met Baxter before you can here and you can see how I feel about Baxter here. I will have to update you on the drama with Baxter later...I'm off to lay in the morning sun!

Make a Wish

What a sad 24 hours that have just passed. I was so very sorry to hear about Dakota even though I had not been able to get to know her very well. She was a beautiful girl with the purest of blue eyes. Then, I heard about Farrah. She too was beautiful. And now, Michael. I am praying for all the families during this time of grief.
My mom works for an eye doctor and one of the drug companies that makes eye drops (Allergan) is working with the Make A Wish Foundation. They have already donated $500,000 to the foundation and will donate an additional $5 for each person that registers on their site. I thought this would be a great way to help others amongst all the sadness. (I am not trying to promote their products, just the Make A Wish Foundation)

In memory of Dakota, Farrah, and Michael and a wish to bring Laska home safely.

I'm It?

First of all, thanks for all the well wishes and crossed paws for my mom. She is feeling much better--finally! She told me it will be a while before she is back to 100% because of the bron-kite-us and she may be a little tired now and then. I told her, "That's ok, Momma, I don't mind napping with you". Which I don't but her being here all last week kinda put a cramp in my style....if ya know what I mean.
Secondly, I've been 'tagged' by Checkers. And, like Checkers, I haven't ever played tag before but it sounds like fun and I thought I would give it a try. Here we go.....
The rules are stated as such:
(why does everything have to have rules?)
1. Open your "My Photos" folder and select the 6th folder
2. Select the 6th photo in that folder
3. Post the photo along with the story behind it
4. Tag 5 of your friends to do the same thing
Sounds like fun, huh? You never know what might show up on someone's blog!!!
So, here is my picture:

Now, obviously I didn't take this photo and the person who runs around here with that dang camera is usually Mom. I am going to assume that she took this Amazingly Beautiful picture of me! I'm gonna have to ask her about the story behind this one....doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I'll be right back.......

Ugh! Sometimes that woman drives me crazy! You know what she said? She said I, not her, messed up this picture. Can you believe that? How can I mess up a picture I didn't even take? She told me that she was all set to get a close-up image of my beautiful brown nose and just when she pushed the button I moved. I don't believe her...I'm pretty sure I would never do something like that. What do you guys think?
Now, I would like to 'Tag' the following friends:
Chloe
Bijou
Sedona
Lorenza
Mason Dixie

Dad's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the great Dads out there!
I sifted through the photo archives and pulled out a few photos to demonstrate why I love my daddy.

I love Daddy because...
...he is very warm and comfy.

...he is so much fun.

...he is the best tummy rubber.

...he lets me sunbathe as long as I want.

...he is crazy!

Happy Father's Day Daddy!
I love you!

Today Is My Day

Happy birthday to me! I'm 10 today. Can you believe it? And guess what I got for my birthday.....nothing, zero, nada, zip, ziltch. Can you believe that? I guess I will cut them a break since Momma has been sick. I have enjoyed her being home with me everyday this week....that is a birthday present in itself. Daddy has been so worried about Momma that he forgot too. :o(

So, Momma went back to the doctor yesterday and they told her she has something called bron-kite-us and an ear and sinus infection. No wonder she doesn't feel like helping me with my blog lately, huh? She told me they gave her an antibiotic shot in the rump and some more powerful medicine to get rid of the infections. The doctor was worried that she had new-moan-ya and they did some tests but she doesn't have that. Thank DOG! She said she is already starting to feel some better since yesterday morning. That shot in the rump must have been some powerful stuff!!

Momma told me we would celebrate my birthday another day and then she mumbled something about I wouldn't know the difference anyway. What is she talking about? That medicine must be making her crazy! I am very happy that she is starting to feel better...being her nurse is hard work. It includes a lot of napping, cuddling, kissing, and laying on the couch. She is sooo demanding when she is sick!

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Can't wait til I can catch up with you guys.

Flower Friday

A gorgeous hibiscus to start the weekend.
Hopefully Momma will be feeling better soon so I will have more time to visit my friends. These crazy humans take a lot of care when they are sick.

M.I.A.

I've been missing in action the past few days because my momma has been sick and I've been very busy taking care of her. I have been reading everyone's blogs but haven't been able to leave any comments or post on mine. I didn't forget any of you for sure! Momma has been hacking, coughing, sneezing, sleeping, blowing her nose, and she can barely talk! The doctor gave her some medicine to make her feel better and some cough syrup, which makes her sleep even more! I have to take good care of her while she is sick because she took good care of me in the past when I was so sick I almost died. She told me she is gonna go to work tomorrow but I am not sure that is the best idea...she still doesn't look too good. Uh Oh, I think she is off to bed, I better go tuck her in and make sure she takes her medicine.

Shoot Me

Checkers gave me this prestigious award which, according to him, means
"Your blog deserves to be shot".
Thanks Checkers!

Here are the rules:
1. Post it to the blog and link to who gave it to you.
2. Choose 5 life situations that could be repeated in slow motion and explain why.
3. List twelve blogs and let them know you've given them the award.
Hmmm... 5 situations repeated in slow motion. I'm gonna have to think on this one.
Give me a minute.....I'm thinkin....no jokes about smoke comin out my ears!
Oh! I know!
#1. When Momma comes home from work because I get to pick my own cookie out of this:

#2. When Daddy comes home from work because I get one of these:

#3. Going for a walk through the park in our complex with my Daddy...sometimes I see squirrels.

#4. Snuggling under the covers between Daddy and Momma 'cause what could be better.

#5. Snoozing in the sun...if you have been here before you know how much I love the sun.

It is pretty hard to pick out the ones I think deserve this 'cause everyone deserves it but I have decided to give this award to my 12 most recent followers because I have gotten quite a few lately. So, thanks for followin me!
Martha & Bailey Khyra Sasha Sprite NY Bully Brats Tuffy
Hero
Rocky Creek Scotties Fiona
The TN Bull Terrors Sugar Tank
If you have already received this award, I'm sorry but 12 blogs are a lot to pick. It is hard to pick 12 doggies when you are fairly new to the 'hood.

Friday's Flower

Welcome Friday!
A close up of a beautiful pink lilly.

Don't forget to stop by GSD Adventures and vote for your favorite pic. I am #49 so you have to scroll all the way down to see me. You can vote EVERY DAY!
My buddy, Checkers, just happens to be kicking my cute little bootie so I need all the help I can get.
(Love ya, Checkers!)
I don't know why I am so obsessed over this; it isn't like I win a lifetime supply of treats. I guess its just fun...especially since Checkers and I are fighting for the top spot!

Squirrel Surveillance

My surveillance is paying off. You won't believe what I have found. First of all, check out this training video I confiscated.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWU0bfo-bSY
(Mom says sorry, she can't figure out how to embed it.)

I caught one of their soldiers doing some surveillance of his own.

I was also able to infiltrate one of their camps and get some images of them putting on some armour. Tank, we might have to look into getting some armour of our own. They are no longer playing fair.

And lastly, take a look at this...I am appalled!

We must continue to work together to rid this world of these vile creatures. If you have not signed up for OWAS yet please visit Tank to get your assignment.

A Clever Dachshund

A wealthy man decided to go on a safari in Africa. He took his faithful pet dachshund along for company. One day, the dachshund starts chasing butterflies and before long the dachshund discovers that he is lost.
So, wandering about, he notices a leopard heading rapidly in his direction with the obvious intention of having him for lunch.
The dachshund thinks, "OK, I’m in deep trouble now!" Then he noticed some bones on the ground close by, and immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the leopard is about to leap, the dachshund exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard. I wonder if there are any more around here."
Hearing this, the leopard halts his attack in mid-stride, as a look of terror comes over him, and slinks away into the trees.
"Whew," says the leopard. "That was close. That dachshund nearly had me."
Meanwhile, a monkey, who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard. So, off he goes.
But the dachshund saw him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figured that something must be up.
The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard. The leopard is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here monkey, hop on my back and see what’s going to happen to that conniving canine."
Now the dachshund sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back, and thinks, "What am I going to do now?" But instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn’t seen them yet … and, just when they get close enough to hear, the dachshund says…
"Where’s that darn monkey? I sent him off half an hour ago to bring me another leopard."

Squirrel Happenings

I've been doing some surveillance since being recruited by Tank for Operation Whack-A-Squirrel. These things are going crazy in my area. Here is my report:
I've spotted them on the fence.
I've spotted them on our patio! They are even bold enough to look right at me!
I'm hoping my surveillance had not been compromised. They have overtaken the bird feeder...even removing the roof!
Whoa! That's far enough buster! GET OUTTA HERE!
I think I am going to need some assistance in my area....HELP!!!
