Sunny Sunday

We have had temps drop to the single digits at night and be in the teens during the day lately.  Right now it is 24 degrees, the warmest it has been in the evening for several days.  Because it has been so cold, Mom was thinking about a work trip she made to Dana Point, CA in August 2012.
I know a lot of the US is covered by this same cold weather so I thought I would show you some pictures from Mom's trip to make you feel warm and cozy.

These photos were taken on an evening
Whale Watching Tour.
Watching the sun set while on the ocean was breath taking.

There were lots of pretty sail boats on the water.

And, of course, there were dolphins next to the boat.

Here's a video of the dolphins swimming beside the boat.
Careful, you might get sea sick from Mom's video skills!
If you aren't able to get the video to work,
please click here to see the video on You Tube.

The whale was off in the distance at first.
It was Blue Whale season.

In this next photo, you will see
what is known as a Whale Footprint.

See where the water is smooth?
That is where the whale was.  The oil on his skin changes the way the surface of the water looks.

Blue Whales are the largest animals on earth!
Mom feels very fortunate to have seen one during her trip.
In the following video you will be able to see the whale and a whale footprint toward the end of the video.
If you aren't able to get the video to work,
please click here to see the video on You Tube.

Even though it is late in the day,
I hope this post helped to make your Sunday Sunny

(I can't figure out why my videos are off center.  Sorry!)

Wow it is pawsome to have something like that to see and remember on cold days. It has been very cold here in Michigan and Mommy is gonna search for some of our Florida pictures to warm her up. Great idea and thanks.

I live 20 minutes from Dana Point! I love walking around the harbor there (probably the same one your peep got on the boat). If you ever want to see it yourself, I have an extra bed for you! Stay snuggled up and toasty warm, Taffy!!

Very nifty photos and video! While we aren't actually cold (just because we have snow and really cold temperatures doesn't mean WE are cold - Mom, on the other hand...), it was still neat to watch those!

Thanks for sharing these fabulous photos and videos, Taffy! It must have been an amazing experience seeing those dolphins and whales! The comments of the passengers made us laugh. ("Oh wow! Oh wow!) Of course, I'd be saying the same thing.

We had a cold snap too, but it's much warmer again now.

Thank you for the Christmas card. It's beautiful!

Nothing beats the cold better than reminiscing a great warm vacation basking in the sun.
