As most of you know, today is the
Official Blogville
Letter To My Paw Pal day.
I apologize for the length of this letter.
My momma thinks she has a lot to say.
Dear Taffy,
Your 4th Gotcha Day (a.k.a. your 7th birthday) will be here soon and I can't believe it. I don't know if you knew this or not, but before we got you I had decided that the next dog your daddy and I got would be a puppy mill dog. I did not tell that to anyone, not even your daddy. So, one day when we were at the vet with Twix, your dad mentioned to Dr. Abby that if she ever had a Wire-haired Dachshund come through Hard Luck Hounds we would like for her to let us know. A few months later, I got an email from Dr. Abby saying she was aware of a Wire-haired Dachshund at a "breeding facility" and she wanted to know if we were interested. I knew right then that you were going to be our dog. I had no idea what you looked like or what your temperament was but I knew you were going to be ours. We went to meet you and you were so scared. I can only imagine what you went through during the first 3 years of your life. This is the very first photo I have of you, taken on the day we met you.
This picture is from the day we brought you home.
I know that Twix was not all that nice to you most of the time but you two had your moments.
At that time, Twix was not doing too good and had pretty much stopped eating. I feel like you gave us an additional 6 months with her because she viewed you as competition.
I will always be thankful to you for giving us that extra time.
It took a long time for your personality to develop to where it is today but I absolutely love the dog you've become.
I love that you are a happy, care free girl.
I love the way you look at me with those deep brown eyes.
I love how you see every person or animal as a friend.
I love how patient you are (especially with me).
I love that you make me laugh every day.
I love how you bury your bones and then can't quite figure out how to un-bury them.
I love how you've learned to trust your daddy and I.
I love how much you love roaching.
The list goes on and on......
With all my love,
Momma

Taffy and Mom...this is such a beautiful letter. We didn't know
Taffy's background. Taffy darling Twix was one of my first friends in blogville. That girl could throw a party. My first ever party was her Girls Night out. Don't ask what we did 'cause I'm sworn to secrecy. Bless your heart for having such a loving nature and understanding that Twix needed a friend.
