Stuff

I have been negligent on posting about my V.E.T. visits of late. I think Mom is having a hard time coming to terms with some things and she wasn't ready for me to post more stuff. She finally gave me the go ahead. Don't worry, nothing life threatening or anything like that....
Just stressful.

In case you are a new follower, you can find my last post about my recent V.E.T. visits here if you are interested.
My last blood tests a couple of weeks ago were good news.  My liver enzymes were in a much more normal range but my thyroid numbers were up a little bit. So, we reduced my thyroid medication to once a day and will have that retested in a few weeks.

I have not told you guys about another problem I was having which is some weakness and/or pain in my back legs.  I trip going up the stairs a lot (I know I'm not supposed to do that but I do) and I hesitate when coming in from outside--there are a couple steps there.
I was temporarily put on Rimadyl but that didn't work so great for me. Now, I am on Metacam and that seems to be doing ok.

The other issue and the one that has Mom so worried is that I have blood in my urine again.  I am taking the antibiotics again and we are kinda in a wait and see mode. This really has Mom stressed out lately but, just like most people, we don't have the green papers to run and get a bunch of tests done right now. Fortunately, our vet knows our situation and is working to treat me in a way that is affordable for Mom and Dad. But that just adds to the stress they are feeling.

I feel bad for stressing Mom and Dad out. Momma keeps holding me and asking me if I feel bad and telling me how much she loves me. Then she tells me she is sorry.
What is she sorry for? I don't get it.

We hope you're feeling better soon!

UTI's can be really hard to beat, and sometimes you just have to keep taking those antibiotics until you get all the bugs out of there. It could just be a really stubborn infection!

We have our paws crossed for you and your mom!

My mom understands how your mom is feeling. Banjo has been to see the vet everyday for the past 3 and has to go in this morning to give them blood for testing.

Oh, Twix! I'm sorry things have been difficult. Your Mommy is sorry too. What I think she means is that she's sorry she can't just make things all better for you. After all, she's always taken care of you and it's hard for humans to feel that there are things that affect us that they can't totally control. But it sounds like things are too, too terrible right now. Just difficult. You hang in there and feel better soon. You know we're all doing our best to send feel good vibes.

lotsa licks, Lola

Blogger ate my comment....

I was saying that I was sad that you're still dealing with "stuff" and that your mom is stressed. Moms do that. They want everything to be better right away and they worry when it takes time. Give her lots of kisses and snuggles! Other than not being to crazy about the steps, how are you feeling?

Zona

Hi Twix, will be keeping your Mom in prayer so she does not get too stressed. All of us are praying for you to keep getting better. Your vet sounds very knowledgeable and with skill, will find the right mix of medicine to help you.

Oh Twix I am so sorry to hear about this. As our doxies get older it seems we are constantly running to solve one problem before another one springs up. It is definitely stressful and you never feel like you're doing enough. With Flash starting to get some "old guy" issues now I am always worrying about his health and hoping to stay ahead of anything new, but as long as he looks and acts happy I try and push it out of my mind and enjoy every moment I have with him, because I know he would just look at me and say "What's with the sad face??? We're supposed to be having fun and barking at stuff!" I'll be praying for Twix and your family.

Oh dear Twix, we are so sorry we missed this post with our being away. We are sorry to hear about these new issues for you and the Mom. But we know you have a good vet and we are sure he will do all he can to help out. We hope it is something simple like a UTI. As for the legs, we don't know what to say but we hope it goes away. We can't have our sweet Twix not feeling well.

Oh Miss Twix, we're really sorry there is so much stress, humans are very strange with stress aren't they? We try to tell ours to 'live in the moment' but they're not the easiest to train....sigh! (FH ws practically writing JD's eulogy the second he started limped she was so terrified it would be awful news!)

We're sending positive thoughts your way too - the whole blogosphere is here for you, we sure hope you can feel the good vibes!

I know exactly what you mean, Twix. Grammy is doing the same thing with me, worrying a lot and holding me and asking if I'm ok. My wheelchair and the ramps they've built for me along the sides of each stairway have helped me a lot, but it is hard for Grammy to put me into the chair... I grumble and gripe about it, but it does let me move around instead of dragging my hind end everywhere. The herbal stuff, Dr. Frank's Joint pain relief, has helped me so much to take away the pain, and that eases her mind a little. I think I'm about the same age as you are... I was 11 in April.

Robert, Grammy's son looked at some pics online of wheelchairs, and he made mine himself so it didn't cost us a fortune. I wasn't real crazy about it at first, but am getting used to it now and it really does help a lot.
Grammy says to let us know if you would like us to mail you pics of how he did it.

Grammy also says to tell you that she is praying for you and your Mama... Love, your friend OC

That's the post I'd been looking for. I was hoping for good news though and it seems you're troubling your mom a bit. Well, stop that! I hope, I really really hope your new medication keeps helping you out. And that blood has no place in your urine. Dang! Sorry, I got frustrated. It's your fault. Stop stressing us. We've only got one Twix! :)
