My Thankful Adoption Story

My furiend Frankie has asked us to tell our adoption stories today for Thanksgiving. I don't have much of an adoption story because my Momma got me when I was 5 1/2 weeks old.
She had another doxie, Max, and he passed away in February 1999 after living a wonderful 17 years.
Momma (she didn't know Daddy yet) wasn't ready to get another dog right away. One day one of her coworkers said her neighbor's dogs just had puppies....and they were doxies! Momma agreed to go and look at them. I was 3 weeks old at that time. There were about 6 puppies there and Mom played with them all and loved on all them. She picked me up and I fell asleep in the palm of her hand....belly up. She liked my coloring too. I was chocolate and tan. So, she told the lady she wanted to get me.
Mom was planning to get me several weeks later because she was in the middle of moving. The lady called Mom the first week of August (I was born June 20) and said she needed to come and pick me up. Mom said she thought I was too young to be away from my birth mother but the lady said all the other puppies were already gone and she had someone else interested in me if she didn't come to get me.
So, I moved in with Mom and all her boxes. I was certainly too young to be away from my first home but Momma put me in bed with her that night and that made me feel more comfy. Matter of fact, I was so comfy I woke Momma up in the middle of the night pushing on her tummy.....looking for something to eat.
I am not a registered dog and was relatively inexpensive but yes, I came from a backyard breeder. Mom and Dad don't care where I came from they love me no matter what and that is what I am most thankful for today!

As most of you know, my Grandma has been sick after having her surgery 3 weeks ago. Well, she went back to the hospital on Tuesday. Her bowels are not waking up after her surgery. She said this time the doctors won't let her go home until she poops. I told her I poop a few times a day and since Mom or Dad always picks up my poo we could give her some. She said that won't work and then laughed at me. I tried!
About this picking up our poo....why do parents do that? It doesn't make me to happy. I spend a lot of time making sure I find the right spot to leave that and work hard to make sure it is perfect. Then they come along and pick it up and put it in the trash! My parents are totally crazy!
Sorry, lost my train of thought there for a moment. I know you are but please continue to keep my Grandma in your thoughts and prayers. We REALLY appreciate it.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Dearest Twix, your story is one of grrreat love and caring. How could your mom NOT choose you... Chocolate !!!
I don't understand about grandma needing poops and them NOT wanting YOURS. I am sure it was just perfect in every way. Two Leggers, I just don't know about them. Well, you know that my paws are still crossed for her. I am sure it'll all work out in the end.

Thank you for the update on your grandma's health. I hope she poops so she can come home real soon. As for your story, it was very Thanksgivenish. We're all grateful to have such great homes. Time to think of the others...May you all homeless friends find a home soon.

Happy Thanksgiving, happy recovery

Happy Thanksgiving! I love your 'how I came home' story! I hope your Grandma starts pooing soon. Maybe she and MY Grannie should get together, because my Grannie is pooping too much... (TMI, huh? Yeah, well, it's true!)

Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks for sharing your story. I am sure it was very interesting the moving with you at 5 1/2 weeks!
You know we are praying for your grandma! I poo all day too but I guess that would not work for her either, right??
Take care

Hi Twix!

Sadie is registrable with the ACC, but we never got her papers because she said " She couldn't read." and we weren't going to breed her anyway.

Hope your grandma gets better soon.

Hi Twix, that was a beautiful story of how you came to live with your Mom - yes, you were very young, but it sounds like your Mom knew just what you needed. We are so sorry to hear about your Grandma, we will keep wooing for good things for her, hope she can get this problem to work out for her. It must be very hard on your Mom too. Please give her some sweet smoochies from us.

Hugs, the OP Pack

Well Twix, you were very young to be away from your doggy mama so we are really relieved that your mom came and got you.
You have found a great home but it sounds as though the breeder lady wouldn't have cared where you went.
We are glad you and your mom have found each other.
Neither of us knows about the start of our life! It doesn't seem too important does it as long as we have good homes now where we are loved.
love and kisses

We're praying tons and tons for your Grandma!!! Maybe she'd like some of our poop? Our mom and dad pick ours up because it's really special. Pups whose peeps don't police up their poops (try saying THAT fast!) don't have special poops. That must be it - don't you think?
You were very young to be away from your bio=mama, but it sounds like your real mom got you JUST in time!!! You have the perfect home now.
Love,
Ammy
