Drugged!

My grandma came home from the hospital yesterday and I was very happy to see her as you can tell from the photos.

She started getting sick today and couldn't keep anything down. She had to go back to the hospital and they admitted her again. We aren't sure what is going on but I told Mom I wanted to update you guys since you have been asking about her.

Besides all that I was drugged today!

Momma and Daddy admit they have been bad parents and were not taking care of my teeth the way they should be. Last time I had my check-up Dr. Abby said I needed to have my teeth cleaned as soon as possible. Well.....today was the day. Mom thought about taking before and after photos but she didn't want any of my furiends to know how terrible my teeth looked. AND, she said it is all her fault. I do admit, I wasn't very cooperative when I was younger and she tried brushing my teeth. She even started trying when I was a puppy but I wanted nothing to do with that. Please don't tell her that I'm taking part of the blame.

I guess I am not very tolerant of morphine because Dr. Abby said as soon as she gave it to me I started acting like I was drunk. Apparently it was funny enough that they took a picture of me for my blog! Mom said she would post it when she gets it. When Mom came to pick me up I couldn't even keep my tongue in my mouth and I was drooling all over the place. I never drool! Thank DoG Mom did not get a photo of that! How embarrassing!

I have heard a little giggling around here this evening and Momma said I looked 'stoned'. I don't know what that means but they seem to find it funny. Oh, well, I don't really care right now anyway.

I had to have one tooth removed today :o(

Mom said she was afraid it would be more than that. I do have gum disease and some infection in there. So, you youngsters out there don't argue with your parents when they are trying to take care of your pearly whites.

You can see my pearly whites in that photo sorta. Believe me when I tell you they were brown this morning.

Now, I'm sure some of you are experiencing Twix withdraw due to Mom's lack of posting my photos lately. I have had a talk with her about this and she agreed she was slacking. So, I hope this helps relieve some of those symptoms you might be having.....

Grandma's surgery

Hi everyone! Yes, you are correct, today was Grandma's surgery. I didn't get to go to the hospital so I sent Mom instead. Grandma came out of surgery just fine. She said to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

They were able to remove her tumor successfully but we will not have a pathology report for several days. The surgeon thinks it is similar to what she had before which was a non invasive type of tumor so that is a great thing! The way we understand it is that it can grow on things like moss growing on a rock. Because it is a non invasive type of cancer it is much less dangerous than other types of cancer so we are very happy for that. Sorry if that is TMI.

Grandma will be in the hospital for several days so we might not be able to get around and visit much. Thanks for understanding and caring!

Flower Friday....Finally!

Yea! Finally Friday!

It has been a long week around here. Mom has been having to work late and for some reason she keeps thinking (hoping?) every day is Friday. So, I am glad it is finally here for her.

This week's "flower" is some pretty flowering kale from last fall.

If you can't tell, Mom likes to photograph flowers. We will continue this during the winter if you guys like it. Mom says we have lots of pretty flowers in the photo archives.

For the contest we are supposed to show and tell what the most ridiculous thing is our humans do for us. I'm pretty sure you guys know I'm spoiled and I'm also sure my humans don't think anything they do for me is ridiculous. But, that doesn't mean others don't find what they do for me a little ridiculous.

It is a heat pad that you put in the microwave. Doxies tend to be cold most of the time and since I have some hair loss issues, I get really cold at times.

This started because mom would lay the heating pad on the couch after she used it and I would climb on top of it. Now, she or Dad will put it in the microwave just for me when I get cold. Then, I get covered up and my head propped on a pillow!

Don't you all wish you had your humans trained as well as I do?

Furiends

Thank you everyone who has told me they are praying for/thinking of/crossing paws for my grandma. I don't know if you remember but she was supposed to have surgery last Tues. and the insurance co hadn't approved her surgery in time. She was rescheduled for Tues. of this week. Well, now she has been rescheduled for Friday afternoon and this time it is because of the doctor's schedule. Crazy, huh?

A furiend gently reminded me that everything happens for a reason last week. It was something Mom and I needed to hear. We actually heard it twice that day so apparently we REALLY needed to hear it. Sometimes we forget that us dogs and our humans don't really control what happens and even if we never know why, there is always a reason for the things that happen in our lives. Thanks for the gentle reminder, furiend....you know who you are!

I have had some awards given to me over the past few weeks and just now reminded Mom to post them. First, Martha and Bailey gave this friendship award to their followers.....

and since I'm proud to call them furiends I wanted to display it. Aren't they the cutest Basset Babes? Thanks for the great award, ladies!

I think another furiend gave me an award but I didn't remind Mom to write it down. You guys all know that I'm no young pup and my memory isn't what it used to be.....so if you gave me an award and I haven't posted and thanked you for it please give me a reminder.

You know, sometimes we take our furiends for granted even when we don't mean to. I just wanted to take a moment and tell all my furiends how important you are to me. I really appreciate you guys. Thanks for putting up with me!
