What did you do this weekend?

Takin' a walk to Grandma's house...
Hmmm...whats this I smell?
Hey, Grandma! I'm here...let me in.
Oh, Grandma, I love you!
Gotta clean up what the kitties left behind.
One of many naps
Leavin a message for Baxter.
Bored...so I took another nap.
Momma was makin' potatoes for dinner....
and she gave me one before she cooked 'em. ;0)
I've said it before, there is not much I won't eat!
A little sad cuz tomorrow is Monday.
Hope you had a great weekend!!

First Watermelon of the Summer

It was pretty hot here yesterday so Momma decided it was time for our first summer watermelon.

Mmmmm...I love watermelon!

I'm waiting...you know I can smell that and I want some. You can't tell in the picture but I am shivering with excitement!

Next, we went outside and I got this!Oh, this tastes great after such a hot day!
I always do a good job getting all the watermelon off the rind!
Do your Momma's give you watermelon too?

Joanie

Joanie is a very special dachshund that was found starving on the side of the road in Texas. You can read her story here. This story is both sad and uplifting at the same time. It is a true testament to the will to survive, not to mention the stubborness of a dachshund ;o) Please be advised, some of the photos of Joanie are hard to look at but she really needs our prayers and support.
Joanie, we are behind you all the way! We know you will be able to overcome this!
I first found out about Joanie at The Long and Short of it All: A Dachshund Dog News Magazine. They do a great job of gathering all the doxie related news out there. Click here to jump over and visit them.

Flower Friday

Similar to 'Wordless Wednesday' and 'True Colors Thursday', I wanted to start 'Flower Friday'. So, without further ado, the first ever (that I know of) 'Flower Friday'.

Check this out!

In case you missed it the first time I mentioned it, here is a new list of pet freebies: Freebies 4 Mom: Freebies 4 Pets. There are some free samples, products, and great coupons available. I don't know any dog that would turn down getting free treats or free food in the mail! I have received several of these in the past and they were great!

Cool Dog Site

For some reason, my mom was checking my email at work today and called (?) to tell me about it. I have been selected as the "Cool Dog Site of the Day" as quoted here:
Congratulations! "dogmark.net"selected your wonderful site ( A Wiener Dog Blog ) for "Cool DOG Site of the Day" on 8th of June,2009. And the site will be introduced on that day.
Won't that be fun?! I'll put up a post with the link on the 8th so you can check it out for your self if you would like.

Something Strange is Happening

I'm not real sure what is going on but Momma has been keeping this bag of "stuff" on the counter for the past 10 days. Sometimes she adds stuff to it and sometimes she squeezes the bag--weird! This "stuff" doesn't smell normal either. Well, tonight, she decided to do something else with this bag. Here is what the bag looked like to start with....
Momma spent quite a bit of time working on this "stuff". She told me she was baking something and that is what's strange. My momma does not bake. She had to go buy flour, baking powder, baking soda, and even the pans to bake the "stuff" in. I even think she had to buy some Cinnamon. Don't get me wrong, she does cook...she just doesn't ever bake anything...especially from scratch.
I had to stay in the kitchen and keep a close eye on what was happening. I was under Momma's feet the whole time. While down there making sure everything was going as planned something fell on me and then Momma started laughing. Glad I could give her something to make her happy....So, anyway, the "stuff" in the bag turned into bread and it smelled really good while it was baking.

The other strange thing that happened was that one bag of "stuff" turned into this:
Now, what are we gonna do with even more of that "stuff"?

Spent the day with Daddy

My poor Daddy! He had to stay home from work today because he woke up in the middle of the night and lost his morsels. :o( Momma went to work and left me here to take care of him. I love being with my Daddy as previously mentioned here. I took good care of him too. I followed him everywhere and watched every move he made, even after Momma came home. I had to give him some get well hugs today too....
He told me I did a good job and even gave me some of his applesauce (don't tell Momma)! I hope he feels better tomorrow but I also hope he stays home with me. Can I have it both ways?

DWB...I made it!

Huh? What? You mean it? I made it on the list of DBW (Dogs With Blogs)?
WooHoo!!
I am so excited to learn about all the crazy doggy bloggers out there! I know from my stats that some of you guys have visited me today....THANKS! I would really love for you to leave a comment and say hi. That way I can visit your blogs too. If you don't wanna say hi but wanna tell me I have a stinky blog, thats fine too. I can take that as a compliment or as constructive criticism--either way, I love to read your notes.
I hope everyone gets an extra day with their parents on Monday! My daddy has to work but my momma doesn't. I heard she was gonna go shopping so it will kinda be like she went to work :o( Hopefully she won't be gone too long.

My Morning

This morning has been a laid back one. Daddy is out and about and Momma is doing laundry. Momma said she gets an extra day this weekend to take care of things at home so she is taking it easy this morning while Daddy is out. After getting up, doing my duties, getting a bite to eat, and seeing Daddy off....... It was time to take a nap! Hey, I'm no longer a youngster, it doesn't take much to wear me out. Besides, napping is one of my favorite things to do.

Did I hear the front door open?

Beautiful sunshine!

Remember, I told you I wanted to tan my tummy this weekend!
Another one of my favorite things to do.

Okay, this concrete is kinda hot. I'm even panting.

Still panting. Would you let me in please?

Did I hear you correctly? I thought I heard you say "TREAT"!

Time to take another nap.

Ummm.....I'm serious. I want to take another nap.
Please stop flashing that thing at me.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!
Don't forget to say a prayer for all our Service Men, past and present!

The Weather

Finally, it has been nice here all week. For the past month (or more) it has rained and/or stormed at least twice a week. We have been under tornado watches and severe thunderstorm warnings around here a lot lately. But...none at all this week! Hooray!
Storms don't scare me like they do some doggies but I HATE rain. Especially when Dad makes me go out for a walk in it. Sometimes he or Mom will open the door to let me out and I look at them and think, "Have you lost your mind?" then I turn around and try to hide under the coffee table. One of them will still make me go outside so I just tinkle on the front porch....most times it is on the WELCOME mat out front! He he! I am NOT going to get wet in that nasty rain.
This week has been awesome though. I have been able to sit in my sunnin' chair every day when Daddy and Momma get home from work. You know how much I love to sit in that chair! The weekend is coming soon, which is even better...more hours to sit in the sun. Maybe it will be warm enough out that I can lay out and tan my tummy. Oh, that would be great...I think I will keep my paws crossed!

Gas

Have you ever been under the covers, just snoozing away and one of your humans passes gas? I mean, come on now...why do they have to do that? Don't they know I have NO fresh air under all those covers? And, they talk about how bad it smells sometimes....well my nose works a hundred times better than theirs.

So, every now and then, my dad gets me some Cesar Canine Cusine as a treat. He bought a couple of them the other day and gave me one. Then, the next night he gave me another one. I waited until I was laying between Mom and Dad and had my head and chest under the covers so they wouldn't be suspicious. My rear end was sticking out and pointing in their direction and I let loose! HA! Payback! They were both going, "Ewww, that is nasty!" They were holding their noses, blaming each other, and laughing. I waited until they let go of their noses, thought it was safe, and let another one rip...this one even was audible. They didn't blame each other any more!! Momma told Daddy he couldn't give me anymore soft food 2 days in a row. It was a great plan until I heard that....:o( Oh well, it was worth it. Hopefully they learned their lesson!

The Parade

So, today was the "Harry's Hay Day Parade" in Grandview. It is in honor of Harry Truman. We had a fun time.
Note: Mom says sorry for the quality of the pics...she thinks her lens has a smudge on it.
Here I am getting ready for the parade; I even got to wear my little black dress!
Here is everyone that was in the parade with me. Do you see me? I am on the left side with my dad. We took this picture while waiting for the parade to start.
This is my cousin, Griffin. He is a Mastiff and the most easy going guy I have ever met. His personality is very different from mine :o)Griffin is quite a big guy, especially compared to me. He still has some growing to do. Geez! How big do you really need to be? Thats Aunt Shannon with Griffin, she said if me and Grif went at it she would put her money on me! Hey, Griffin! Being a big dog doesn't make you tough. Even your mom says you are a wimp.
That is Gretchen, she is part wiener dog and part....well, we don't know for sure. Kayla, my cousin, is with Gretchen. Gretchen and Griffen live at Shannon and David's house.Who taught this guy how to sit?
That just doesn't look right.
Finally, the parade started. We were almost at the end. I guess they didn't want to put the marching band behind us. Not sure why.
Here we come! Go Grandview Animal Hospital! Hey, look! There is me and Griffin. I heard the crowd saying lots of things about my dress. They really liked it! Hey, Mom, what were you doing when you took this picture? It is all slanted and I don't remember the street being like that.
Look at my daddy taking care of me. He is the best Dad! I know if one of those big dogs tried to pick a fight he would protect me. Speaking of fights, there were 2 big dogs that got into it while we were waiting for the parade to start. There we go! The parade was long, about 2 miles but I walked the whole way. Mom and Dad thought I would have to be carried but I didn't! After the parade we went back to the vet clinic and they were giving away hot dogs (not funny) with a donation to the Hard Luck Hounds to help the homeless pets at the clinic.

Hey, why won't you guys share those hot dogs with me?
Would you call me a cannibal if I ate a wiener?

This cute Corgi puppy is one of the Hard Luck Hounds. If you have a home in need of a new cutie, please consider this guy.

Next, we headed home and it wasn't long before I curled up for a long nap! Walking 2 miles on these itty bitty legs is a lot of work!
ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzz

I know this is a long post but I wanted to share my day with you guys. I hope you enjoyed it. Now, I have just one more thing to say...

Listen here lady, I have about had it with you and that camera!
Leave me alone so I can sleep!

Saturday

I overheard Momma and Daddy talking about me being in a parade Saturday. I have never been in a parade before and it sounds like fun. Momma even made me try my dress on (Aunt LeAnna gave it to me) to make sure it still fit.
I also heard them say my cousins are gonna be in the parade too...Gretchen and Griffin. Gretchen is a wiener dog mix and Griffin is a mastiff. Don't ask me how they ended up with a dog on each side of the size spectrum...they are kinda crazy!
Just a note to all those boy doggies out there...
KEEP YOUR NOSE OUT OF MY PRIVATE AREAS!!!
I will have to show you my sharp teeth if you don't!

Mondays

I hate Mondays! I love the weekend because Mom and Dad are here with me most of the time and I don't have to go in my crate when they are here. But, Mondays stink! They both leave in the morning and stay gone all day. They don't even cuddle or pet me much before they leave. I have even started refusing to kiss Daddy before he leaves for work cuz I'm mad at him! Actually, this happens every weekday but Mondays are the worst. Who can I talk to about getting rid of Mondays? Anybody know?

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

I hope everyone was able to spend some time with their Momma today. Mommas are important people. They love you no matter what, they are always there when you need them, and they love to cuddle!
We went to Grandma's house for a little while today. I love visiting Grandma--she is pretty special too! Daddy has taken care of everything this weekend so Momma could relax. He even cooked spaghetti for her dinner. I've got my eye on it though and, if given the opportunity, I will be scarfing some of it down. My daddy is a good cook and I know Momma appreciates it when he helps her out. This afternoon, I was sitting in my "sunnin" chair (but there was no sun) taking a nap.
Momma came over picked me up, asked me if I was lonely, and carried me to the couch where we cuddled up together and took a nap. What a great way to spend Mother's Day with my momma.
